Older versions / Version 1.5.3
« on: September 30, 2009, 01:24:33 PM »

I'm using version 1.5.3. I have found that the search bar, "new" button and user information can be found in a .css file, while the side panel is called "menu-panel" and appears in a .js file. Is there a .js for the search bar area or a .css for the menu-panel? I would like to mix and match the layout, perhaps switch the tags for the search or the search for the workspace panel, but I can't seem to find all the files. I have spent hours running searches.

Am I missing files?

How To's / Theme Wiki
« on: September 30, 2009, 04:30:24 AM »
I've been doing a bunch of work on themes, here is what I've found so far (perhaps we can move this to a wiki when it becomes more solid?):

1) You can get a bunch of Ext js themes from here: Each theme is made up of an images folder and a css file.
     A) The CSS files are for the most part useless, unless you want to take a bunch of time to plug them in line by line to your opengoo extjs css file. Simply replacing the opengoo one with a new one will result in losing some of the opengoo layout.
     B) It takes a bit of time, but using an ftp client, replace all the opengoo images with your new theme images. Do NOT simply erase the opengoo images folder and upload the ext js folder! There are more opengoo sub-folders then there are ext js theme image sub folders, so what you want to do is actually go folder by folder, replacing the images that have the same name.

2) You will still see some colors that have not changed. Using ColorZilla and FireBug (I don't know the IE equivalent), you can track down those CSS elements to change. Some key files to take note of are:
     A) construction.css
     B) layout.css
     C) extjs-all.css
You can find all of these by going deeper in to the public/assets folders.

There are a BUNCH of things to change, which is a bit annoying, but once you get used to it (took me a couple of days), you learn to just be patient with having to deal with so many files at once.

Side note: ALL of the ext js theme have images that are MUCH lighter than the standard opengoo ones. Perhaps the opengoo dev team should consider switching to lighter images for faster loading time?

Architecture / Re: Removing the sidebar from the dashboard

Firebug shows them coming up in a div called "menu-panel", but that div does not show up in any file when I used notebook++ to search everything. Suggestions? Thank you kindly for your time.

Getting Started / Theming documentation

Does anyone have documentation that explains the order of the themes? I know any ext js theme will change some of the look, but there are so many css files, it is very difficult to figure out to change the layout. Does anyone have it mapped out? Thanks!

looking forward. i'm not much of a php/js man, but i love fiddling with layout. i've been searching and posting around in the forums to see if there is an easy way to do so, i would love to help with layout development for future development if someone can steer me in the right direction. i find ext js and its themes to be a little confusing.

How To's / Changing Layout 100%

I understand that OpenGoo is built in Ext js, it is also really hard to modify the themes (opengoo has more folders than the average ext theme, the css is spread around and is very confusing). How hard is it to take the opengoo PHP files and plug them in to a new theme/template using ext js or perhaps another js library? I know this would mean having a very difficult time upgrading, but i would like to know in theory. Are the files pure php, or do they have ext js in them? i started searching through them and they seem like pure php, but its going to take a very long time to go through all of them. A little help from a developer, please? Thanks!

I was just wondering if there is a projected date for the 1.4 stable release and a projected change log?

Community Contributions / Re: Chat extension
« on: September 25, 2009, 09:44:23 AM »

I followed the Setup instructions to the T, but I am not able to get the chat extension installed.

After doing all the changes like in the Setup.txt, it shows me a blank page. I tried debugging in Eclipse, but that didnt help. Couldnt find anything on the Net too.

Any pointers?

Did you ever find a solution? I have the same problem...

How To's / License Question
« on: September 24, 2009, 09:26:21 AM »

Trying to define "commercial use": Say I have a small law firm and we want to use OpenGoo internally. Is this commercial use?

Next question: Say we want to connect to clients via OpenGoo, are we able to do so? We are not selling the use of opengoo - client's are billed hourly regardless of if they would chose to use the opengoo system or not. Is this commercial use?

Next question: Say we put a bit on our website that says, "Connect to our staff via our desktop system!", so in a way, we are not making money off of opengoo, but we are mentioning it along with our services. Is this commercial use?

In all three cases, there is 100% NO BILLING for use of opengoo, but it is in use in a commercial environment. My impression is that commercial use is if you want to make money off of opengoo, but we just want to make money and opengoo helps us and our clients stay organized. We have other options already, but just though i would ask here.

Development / FrontPage registration

I would to allow users to be able to register on their own and at the same time create an option for user categories. I don't mind taking the time to develop, but I'm a newbie and need someone to send me in the right direction. What files am I looking to modify, what tables and rows in the db do i need to keep in mind, etc. I'm looking around now, but the more time I can save the better. Thanks!
