Applications / Google Apps Integration Plugins - Idea
« on: February 01, 2010, 05:14:58 pm »
I'd like to get some discussion going about an idea I had today.

I tried to setup my Feng Office installation to check my email account (which I use Google Apps For Your Domain for, so it's Gmail servers but my own emails) and found out it wouldn't work (I'm pretty sure I did everything correctly).

So I got the idea: what if there was a plugin that solved this problem, and allowed you to setup the Feng Office email client to successfully access the Gmail servers? And wouldn't it be cool if this plugin also allowed you to link your Google Apps For Your Domain documents as Feng Office documents (sort of like a modified Web Link, I suppose?). Eventually, complete integration would be really cool -- synching Calendar & Contacts with Feng Office.

I think this is a really great idea that lots of people could benefit from. What does everyone else think?

Edit: I have found the problem and eliminated it. This is definitely a pretty big bug, though, so the team might want to have a go at fixing it. There was apparently a quote issue between PHP and MySQL. I had named the email account 'Ethan's Email' or something similar. Removing the quote enabled me to login again.

Strange bug, but it should be easy to fix.

Also, as a developer, I'm interested in joining the OpenSource effort. Where can I learn more about that?

Hello,

I'm a tad bit distraught, as I somehow have messed up my account to login to my Feng Office installation. When it loads, it only displays the header and footer, including a false message (it states I'm using 1.6.1, but I just upgraded to 1.6.2 and this isn't reflected).

It shows the Welcome Back, Ethan Barron, which makes me assume I'm logged in, but for whatever reason, it's failing to load all of the widget modules. This occurred right after I was playing around with the Email system, which I just setup last night (and which worked fine up until this). So this makes me think it might have been caused by something with the Email module.

I logged into another one of the accounts we have setup, and everything loaded fine, including the Email module.

I'm wondering why this occurred, and how I can fix it. I also wonder why it says I'm running 1.6.1 when I successfully upgraded everything to 1.6.2.

I'll add that there is no output to the cache/log.php file. I'm using Chrome, though the error occurs in Internet Explorer, as well.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I really need to get this sorted out.
