Installation problems / no upgrade path from version 1.5.3 to 1.6.1.
« on: January 07, 2010, 04:11:03 am »
I set up my v1.5.3 exactly as specified for the automatic upgrade with folder permissions and got an error message saying: "You already have upgraded to the latest possible version.
* There is no upgrade path from version 1.5.3 to 1.6.1.

I'm curious why there is an error message like this "There is no upgrade path from version 1.5.3 to 1.6.1."  in the first place?  I know what a complex task programming something like OpenGoo can be (and I'm very, very grateful it was developed and released for free: thank YOU!).   But such an error message would have to be programmed wouldn't it?  and why write such a message and then announce you can upgrade to 1.6.2 as it was announced and is announced every time I log into v1.5.3?  Is this an oversight between the announcement writer and the programmers, and first you have to auto -upgrade to 1.6.1 or to 1.6.0.

I am very happy with OpenGoo as is, and will also be grateful when the hard working team has the time to help those of us using the free version resolve this pesky upgrade issue.

I have a lot of milestones and tasks to create and was wondering if there was perhaps plans to create a form I could download to Excel or OpenOffice Calc with columns headers and an ID Column for the Workspace, so I could populate it quickly with my milestones and tasks and upload it back into OpenGoo to create the milestones and tasks?

My project consists of making 100 short educational films.  I need to put each film into OpenGoo as 3 separate tasks: Film, Edit, and Add Voice Over (300 tasks).  I want to assign each of these tasks to three different milestones: Complete Filming, Complete Editing, Complete Voice Over.  I'm new to OpenGoo and really enjoying what it has to offer so far!  If you have any alternative suggestions on how to do this (I thought about exploring uploading them into the MySQL table, but wasn't sure that that would create all the necessary dependencies) let me know.

Anyway that is my most intensive task creation need.  Really like your product!

Thanks, David
