Feature requests / Re: Folders in the files-module

Instead of folders, if you think of the Tags in the same way that gmail has Labels then you can tag any of your object with preset tags, or create new ones on the fly.

When you want to hunt down just objects (we'll say Files) in a certain "Folder" you just go to the "All" workspace, click on the Documents Tab and then click on your "Folder Name" in the Tags Panel.

Edit:  And I just thought of something, objects can have multiple tags, while a file can only go in one folder, so you would have to know where to look.
You are right, that is really an option.
It would be fine if I would be able to automatically tag all files with a certain tag when unziping (the .zip's name?). That would be a first step.
But I still prefer to have folders, as this is a different layer. It enables me hierarchical organisation of files.

Feature requests / Re: robots.txt

It won't have any effect unless you install OpenGoo in the document root of your server, am I right?

That is right, it will only apply to the users, who use opengoo in the document root, i.e. in a subdomain. But it won't "harm" others. That is exactly the way roundcube and phpmyadmin handle it.

How To's / Re: How to backup using 1.6

The wiki has some information about this:

Older versions / umlauts
« on: November 15, 2009, 09:53:09 pm »
Opengoo does not deal correctly with umlauts. I.e. öäü

When unzipping files it cuts the file name at the umlaut (file: "günter.txt" will be file "g")

In emails the umlaut is shown correctly but when making a todo-item out of an email all umlauts are cut out (leaving only Strae of Straße)

Feature requests / Folders in the files-module

It would be great to have folders in the files module.

Besides easier ordering all unziped files can get in one folder.

Feature requests / Synchronization and similar things
« on: November 15, 2009, 09:44:57 pm »
The most important thing that opengoo lacks is the possibility to be integrated in existing installations.

I already looked through some existing feature requests and want to collect the points on this topic and extend them by my own thoughts.

1.) Surely the most important thing is real imap support.
- Mark e-mails that are "read" on the server "read" on opengoo as well and vice versa
- Save sent e-mails in the sent folder
- Add simple filters: i.e. all mails in a folder are categorized to a certain project (that is possible at the moment by adding the same email account to every project only subscribing to one folder.)
etc.

2.) Calendar synchronization
- Ability to add internet-calendars (URIs) which are automatically fetched regularly through a cronjob
- Second stage: import changes back to original calendar
especially google calendar

3.) Contacts
- Import/export through vcards
- Contacts (and user management) through LDAP

4.) Files
- Make a folder in the filesystem available (enhancement: filter for certain file types)

5.) Full synchronisation through i.e funambol
- Synchronise notes, calendar, contacts and messages between opengoo and a mobile phone

These are only some ideas. Of course some of them are really hard to implement, but especially 1, 2 and maybe 4 are real important points, which would make the work with opengoo much easier.

Feature requests / robots.txt
« on: November 15, 2009, 09:23:57 pm »
I couldnt find a bugtracker or anything so I am posting my feature requests in this forum.
It would be nice to see a bug/feature-tracker like trac, redmine or bugzilla. That does specially help the developers to keep an overview. If theres allready such a thing it could be promoted more on the website.

Now to the feature request:
Please add a robots.txt in the root directory with the following content:
Code: [Select]
User-agent: *
Disallow: /

That prevents searchengines from indexing the login site.
On the one hand it is useless to have a login page indexed and on the other hand it could be possible to find opengoo installations through i.e. google and possibly even certain versions (or at least versions prior to a specific version if the login page changed (title or a string)) which can be used to exploit possible security holes.
