The German government has found a manufacturer in Norway that can supply an additional amount of ammunition for Gepard anti-aircraft self-propelled guns, which are planned to be sent to Kiev. This is reported by Spiegel with reference to sources.
According to the magazine, previously the supply of ammunition was problematic, but now the office of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has found a manufacturer in Norway. Initially, the German government intended to receive ammunition from South America, but supplies from there were not approved by the manufacturing country - Switzerland.
According to the publication, if everything goes according to plan, the first Gepard ZSU will be delivered to Ukraine this month.
Earlier it was reported that the next package of military assistance that Germany plans to deliver to Ukraine will include three multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) Mars 2. The head of the German Defense Ministry, Kristina Lambrecht, stressed that the training of soldiers could begin as early as July. When the training of military personnel is completed, the weapons will be transferred to Ukraine. In addition, Berlin intends to transfer to Kiev 30 self-propelled anti-aircraft installations of the "Cheetah" type and the IRIS-T air defense system.
