: Blank Page - Help!
: tiller December 04, 2008, 03:40:42 PM
Hi,

I have just installed opengoo for the 3rd time with the same result - of a blank page..

The installation is on an apache (linux) 1.3.37, PHP 5.2.6, and MySQL version  4.1.22-standard  (..with InnoDB , as the last install page tells me in the line "InnoDB storage engine is supported"..)

After reading a few of the similar posts here, I changed the config.php line of:
define('DEBUG', true); - from false to true.. However, I can not see any debug info. not even in the cache folder.....

Any ideas what can be done to solve this?

Thanks!

Hi.. When you install your OpenGoo, what is the Address that you're using? Probably you need to configure properly the host address, if you are using an external server type the IP address instead of the Hostname in the config.php (/config/config.php), cause sometimes it could happen that the DNS resolver is not configured...

ex. Remote
define('ROOT_URL', 'http://192.168.0.10/opengoo/'); here the root of OpenGoo is "/opengoo/"

ex. Local
define('ROOT_URL', 'http://127.0.0.1'); here the root is "/"

Hi martino87r and thanks for your reply.

I installed opengoo on an external server, eg. http://mydomain.org/ . The DNS for this server works fine..

Following your idea, I added a trailing / - but it didnt help either..  Humm can it be because I installed on server root? (Sounds highly unlikely..)

inf config/config.php there is a setting named root-url
is this setting correct?
: Re: Blank Page - Help!
: tiller December 08, 2008, 07:38:35 AM
Hi soomon and thanks for your reply!

I think the settings are correct. They are as:
define('ROOT_URL', 'http://artileri.net/');

(artileri = the domain name)

Looks correct, doesn't it?

Maybe you need to set a higher PHP memory limit. Try setting it to 32 MB if your server allows it.

Check this post: http://forums.opengoo.org/index.php?topic=142.0

or search the forums for 'php memory limit'.

Cheers.

: tiller December 08, 2008, 09:39:02 AM
Hi ignacio and thanks for pointing this out.

Yes, I forgot to mention that indeed I looked at that thread and the memory_limit on the server should be fine at 64M, for both master and local values..

This is slowly becoming a bit of a mystery...
: Re: Blank Page - Help!
: martino87r December 08, 2008, 09:45:12 AM
Can you check the log files for PHP and Apache?

Probably if there's something wrong then it must be within the logs, otherwise it's a mystery :o

: Re: Blank Page - Help!
: tiller December 08, 2008, 09:53:11 AM
The error log files only point to files that do not exist.. Which is strange, as they are there..
e.g. File does not exist: /path_to_/public_html/index.php&c=login
: Re: Blank Page - Help!
: martino87r December 08, 2008, 09:57:59 AM
Hmm i saw that the PHP is working, MySQL is OK... so what's the problem???
Seems that the setup cannot complete the installation steps (http://artileri.net/public/index.php) look here...

Strange...
: Re: Blank Page - Help!
: tiller December 08, 2008, 10:02:16 AM
yes.. it all seems fine.. even the last stage step.. It seems to work, but keeps coming back with asking to register..

Maybe that is the problem? Maybe it doesnt get that I have already registered..?
: Re: Blank Page - Help!
: tiller December 08, 2008, 10:15:52 AM
I wonder if this could be something with writable files/folders..
: Re: Blank Page - Help!
: ignacio December 08, 2008, 12:26:29 PM
You could try a test installation with all permissions to files and folders just to discard that option.

A simple chmod -R 777 <your opengoo dir> will do.

Also, if you copied correctly your log, '/path_to_/public_html/index.php&c=login' is not actually a file, the file would be '/path_to_/public_html/index.php'. The rest would be parameters, only that the parameters passed to OpenGoo should come after a question mark, like this: 'index.php?c=access&a=login' and not after a '&'. Could this have something to do with your problem?
: Re: Blank Page - Help!
: tiller December 08, 2008, 05:43:12 PM
Hi ignacio, thanks for the idea.

Changing the permissions to 777 in all files and folders produces a message of:
Internal Server Error

Well.. At least some kind of message..

After moving from one domain to another domain and reinstalling anything I get a blank page too.

With debug mode = true I get this error:

"Fatal error: Class 'DB' not found in /home/.../public_html/init.php on line 112"

Any idea?
: Re: Blank Page - Help!
: Karl December 30, 2008, 09:20:13 PM
For my blank page problem I found a solution:

Because of moving to another domain I uploaded my backup to the new domain and then I got the blank page.

Then I looked into the folder "cache". There was a file "autoloader.php". After deletion of this file anything worked -- no more blank page.

I think there must be a little bug fixing for future versions.

Hi Karl,

Thanks for the tip!

Tried a fresh install of version 1.1. It didn't have the autoloader.php - and unfortunately, it didn't work either...

Very strange indeed..

Hi folks,

unfortunatly I've got the same problem -> blank page after installation.

During the installation process everything worked out fine and no errors occured.

Is there a solution for this problem yet? Thanks for info.

Try if setting DEBUG to true in 'config/config.php' changes anything. Otherwise try looking in 'cache/log.php' or your webserver's log for any error messages and put them here please.

Thanks.

Hello,

it's only a friendly reminder.

After an update installation from release 1.1 to 1.2 I saw the LogIn screen and then a Blank Page.

The reason was that I forgot it to run the upgrade script from the public folder-
( see readme.txt )

Now it works fine.

Try to delete de file 'cache / autoloader.php'. It works for me.

 'cache / autoloader.php'. 이 파일을 삭제해봐도 안되고....

디버그 모드도 안되고....

난감합니다...

I just upgraded from 1.1 to 1.2.1 and received the following error with debug on:

Query failed with message 'Unknown column 'trashed_by_id' in 'where clause''
Error params:
File:    /var/www/opengoo/environment/library/database/adapters/AbstractDBAdapter.class.php
Line:    386
Sql:    SELECT * FROM `og_companies` WHERE `trashed_by_id` = 0 AND (`client_of_id` = '0')
Error number:    1054
Error message:    Unknown column 'trashed_by_id' in 'where clause'

When I ran the upgrade, (/public/upgrade) everything said it went perfect.  Yet, I was getting white screens.  Found the debug, and came across this.  I backed up the source code to another directory.  After I encountered this issue, I swapped back to the 1.1 version, and now I can't connect to the DB! {chuckle}

This particular OpenGoo copy isn't all that important.  The data is still there, I'm sure, but I suppose I should do a dump.

Hi,
I had the same problem after moving phpmyadmin and obviously breaking mysql. Trying to reinstall opengoo resulted in a blank page and after manually deleting the opengoo database in 'error connecting database' (not surprising, is it  ;)...). I just wanted to do a plain reinstall but opengoo refused. Until I deleted config/config.php. The reinstall was possible as it was the first time. Perhaps you might try...

: ignacio March 03, 2009, 02:03:14 PM
Hi Pontiac,

The column trashed_by_id was added to OpenGoo on version 1.1, so maybe you had version 1.0 but chose to upgrade from 1.1 to 1.2.1. So you missed the upgrade from 1.0 to 1.1. If this is the case, and If you made a backup before upgrading you should restore that backup and perform the upgrade process from 1.0 to 1.2.1.

Note that this won't happen with future versions, because since version 1.2 your installed version is saved and so when you upgrade you will always be upgrading from your installed version to the new version, and no intermediate step will be skipped.

Hi tiller,
I had the same problem - blank page and nothing else. I started wireshark and see that opengoo installation  want to communicate with ip 68.178.254.62 (opengoo.org) port 80. this can't working well, because my opengoo installation is behind firewall and http can go only over proxy. I edit file 'host' and so is my machine (localhost) = opengoo.org and www.opnegoo.org. After that dirty hack :)
I see the start page of my opengoo installation.

sorry for my english
: Re: Blank Page - Help!
: ignacio March 19, 2009, 11:07:12 AM
Hi, OpenGoo communicates with opengoo.org to check for upgrades. The URL used to check for upgrades is defined in 'application/models/versons_feed/VersionsFeed.class.php'.

Hi,
I edit today my hosts file again and delete entry, so my opengoo server get the right ip address from www.opengoo.org. All working!!! I don't understand, why yesterday don't working until I edit my hosts file.
I test today new installation. Perhaps need new installation of opengoo the link to www.opengoo.org

I tested now with opengoo 1.3RC2 new installation without false www.opengoo.org entry in my hosts file
and this fail again, after new admin user formular I see only blank-page or the browser show loading page.
After I edit again hosts file and www.opengoo.org get my localhost adress, I get login-page

Have install procedure any time out and must have http open to www.opengoo.org

The same problem with the newest release 1.3. Anything goes wrong at the end of installation

Hi all,

after first time installation and successful login, the dashboard will be initialized with several parameters. Two of them raise exceptions and the following screen will be blank. Changing the appropriate calling routines will load the dashboard with success.

In the file ROOT_URL/opengoo/application/controllers/DashboardController.class.php replace the line 75
$comments = Comments::getSubscriberComments(active_project(), $tag);
with this line
$comments = (active_project() instanceof Project) ? Comments::getSubscriberComments(active_project(), $tag) : '';
and replace the line 120
$tasks_in_progress = ProjectTasks::getOpenTimeslotTasks(logged_user(),logged_user(), active_project(), $tag,$to_company,$to_user);
with this line
$tasks_in_progress = (active_project() instanceof Project) ? ProjectTasks::getOpenTimeslotTasks(logged_user(),logged_user(), active_project(), $tag,$to_company,$to_user) : null;

If you prefer to comment the old codelines be sure to change the right lines after inserting. I would like to deliver a better workaround but it should work until next minor upgrade release.

Hi,

I've one OG installation, on Xampp 1.6.7 for Windows, that kept failing at last step after entering administrator info for login. It halted for a long period until finally a blank page. There's no sign of what have happened, no log.php left, even after seting debug as true, commenting the line for 'COOKIE_PATH' and deleting autoloader.php. Only an IDE installed in the PC popuped an error sign of apache.exe not processing in win32. But other applications like Joomla 1.5 or dotProject were all working fine. This problem happened in both upgrading from OG 1.2 to 1.3 (incl. 1.3 & 1.3.1) and a brame new installation of 1.3 or 1.3.1. I've tested it repeatedly even after switching to a brame new Xampp 1.7 but all the same in that PC.
On the other hand, I installed OG 1.3 on 2 other PC's which have been working fine so far.

Really don't know why. Please help!

Thanks.

I'm not sure if there is a single reason for the blank page problem.  If I tried to install on any machine, which accessed the Internet through our proxy server then it failed with a blank page after the administrator login.  Fortunately I was able to bypass the proxy and the installation completed.  I could then use as normal.

Hi, geebee

Your answer for my problem really works. Many thanks.
Still wondering why OG 1.3*  would have this problem that all older versions don't have.
: Re: Blank Page - Help!
: Vcoder April 09, 2009, 03:08:49 PM
Today I tried to install opengoo 1.3.1 and got blank page too. This blank page is because automatic update is again enabled by default. And if opengoo.org is unreachable from computer (computer is behind a proxy or firewall) - we receive a blank page.

Solution is very simple - before finishing installation just unplug network cable. Create admin account, log in and disable auto updates. That's all - You can plug network cable back and use opengoo.

I had already wrote (http://forums.opengoo.org/index.php?topic=191.msg1369#msg1369) about this problem and shortly after that automatic update was disabled. And I am very surprised that it was enabled again.

P.S. Sorry if my English is not good - it's not my native language.
