Installation problems / Re: Upgrade from 201 to 21rc2 DB failure

@morezilla: I have done exactly this before I have started the post.
But it does not work!

Any other solution?

Tx

Just to clarify, guenni21, I followed the instructions on the wiki, but I was not able to get the upgrade process to complete. I was not suggesting that you try the instructions, but merely documenting that I had.

I'm getting this same error when trying to upgrade from 2.0.x to 2.1. Not sure how to proceed; seeing if there are some notes about this elsewhere.

I followed procedure here:

Getting Started / Re: Quick Question re version

I would suggest installing 1.7.5 for now. When 2.0 is finished, you should be able to upgrade to it from 1.7.5.

Feng Office 2 / Re: Features of Feng Office 2
« on: January 19, 2012, 10:37:58 am »
I don't think folders are planned at this time. It looks like workspaces and tags are the Feng way for organizing documents... so if you give all "how-to" documents a "how-to" tag, you can see them altogether, much like you could if they were all in the same folder.

Congrats on the new beta! Can't wait for the future Google Calendar and GelSheet integration. Very exciting developments!

Ideas / Re: Change staff?

I'm not an employee of Feng Office, but I'll still tell you that your post is inappropriate. There's nothing wrong with constructive criticism, but your tone, subject choice (for the forum post), and suggestions are all... again... inappropriate.

If you truly want to help improve Feng's software, why don't you carefully document what you see as deficiencies in the code and open up appropriate tickets in the Bug Tracker: /web/bugs/login_page.php

You seem to have some php knowledge to share, so why not remove the barbs from what could be a productive critique and work more towards a constructive tone?

Just as Feng has benefited from other open source projects, you stand to benefit from Feng's open source efforts. I can't imagine how insulting Feng's team members could be seen as a productive method for improving Feng Office.

Announcements / Re: Feng Office 2.0 BETA 2 has been released!
« on: October 25, 2011, 12:58:24 pm »
I could be reading that announcement wrong, but I think the devs are saying that there simply isn't an upgrade path from the current version to the 2.0 beta, not that there won't be an upgrade path from the current version to the 2.0 final release. I think they're just focusing on getting the 2.0 codebase ready right now and want people to provide comments and bug reports, rather than worrying about upgrading older installs to 2.0. Once the 2.0 version is stable, it's probably then easier to write the sql necessary to upgrade older releases to 2.0.

I'm just speculating, however...

How To's / Re: White screen

If nothing changed on your setup, you need to check your server logs to see if there are any errors. Could be as easy as restarting apache... if you're on apache. Hard to troubleshoot unless you give a better idea of your server setup.

Installation problems / Re: Cannot Login - Login Box persists

Ah... that'll do it!

If you still want a little php performance enhancement, we seem to be running fine with eAccelerator v0.9.6.1.

Stab in the dark, but you might want to update the newer php to 5.3.6, which I think is the most recent php version. I know there were a lot of bugs/security issues with the early roll out versions of php 5.3.

I don't think so.

I'd like this functionality too! Might be a good bit of functionality to sponsor!

How To's / Re: File uploads - 1MB limit
« on: June 08, 2011, 10:27:09 pm »
look at the php.ini settings for post size and time limits as well. Sometimes these affect php applications differently, so a large file may upload fine with one php application but not with another.

How To's / Re: Speeding up FENG?
« on: June 07, 2011, 09:47:02 pm »
APC and Xcache are applications that speed up PHP generally. They are not related to Feng per se, but they could certainly speed up the PHP aspects of Feng. Depending upon how you have Apache/PHP compiled, they can be very easy to install (sometimes as easy as apt-get or yum), but they do need to be installed on the server; they have nothing to do with Feng code... other than having the potential to speed up Feng's PHP.

Optimizing MySQL can be dicey, but it could also be as easy as changing settings in your my.cnf config. Scripts like day32.com/MySQL/ can give suggestions. Mileage can vary. If you have your server hosted at an ISP, they'll usually accept a ticket for both installing the opcode and for tuning mysql for performance. Someone who is good at tuning mysql can do wonders for performance. APC and Xcache can also be a good kick in the pants for php, but be aware that some php applications do not run well with one or the other. Kind of a trial and error thing, but if they don't run well, you'll be able to tell easily. Only an issue if you have other php applications running alongside Feng.

How To's / Re: How do I prepare an invoice?
« on: June 03, 2011, 10:16:03 am »
I don't think any module handles invoicing. Plugins are here: sourceforge.net/projects/opengoo/files/plugins/  but none of them seem to handle it either. This might be something you could sponsor with Feng to get it developed. I think they have a policy where users can contribute to the development of new functionality. See here: fengoffice.com/web/community/sponsor-feature.php

General Discussion / Re: On the future of Feng Office
« on: June 02, 2011, 10:02:17 am »
Well... considering that there's a release candidate available for download and testing, that fact alone suggests the product is still under active development. As to the commercial slant, ultimately this product is developed to make money for the developers and the company behind the product. Even though it's open source code, the developers are running a business, so they probably are much more apt to answer questions and concerns of paying customers. That's the trade off. If you want your questions answered in a timely manner and you want your concerns definitely addressed by the developers, you need to consider paying for the product... or I should say... paying for support for the product if you're hosting locally. Feng Office also has (or had in the past) the opportunity for people to sponsor development of particular functionality, in the event that they wanted to help mold the future direction of parts of the project. Hope this helps.
