[1.5.3] Can someone confirm this works?
« on: October 01, 2009, 01:58:12 am »
Still trying to track down my problem with new users not being able to run a timer.

Can someone confirm the following works (or not):

  • Using 1.5.3, create a new user
  • Enable that user's "Can manage time" in the user's System Permissions
  • Check Workspace permissions for an existing workspace that you know to be able to use timers with, make sure all permissions are read/write.
  • Log in as the new user
  • go to the permissioned workspace
  • create a task
  • Observe if the timer control shows on the task list
  • Observe if the Time tab shows at the top of the window

As I've mentioned before, this works very well with users created prior to 1.5.3 (in 1.5.3 specifically) but not in 1.5.3.

Thanks

I followed your instructions exactly.  Using 1.5.3.  For "create a task", the timer does not appear there. Instead, you have to save the task, then go back and edit it, and the timer is now there. The time tab shows at the top of the window at all times and I can use it successfully.

Thanks.

You're saying that after the task is initially created, if you edit the task a 2nd time the timer control will show on the task list when you hover over it?

I tried this, and I still don't see the control.  Can you document what exactly you changed (If anything) on the 2nd edit?

BTW, I do see that when you open the task there is a "Start Work" and "stop Work" button.  I am referring to the timer control on the task list you can hover over and see.

Oh, I misunderstood you, sorry.  Will try again and report back shortly.

The timer control (stopwatch icon) does not appear in the task list at all, I could not get it to appear.  The Time tab is there.

Thanks, it seems you are confirming my experience.  I'll report this as a bug.

Hold the phones!  I just figured it out: click on the Show: Time button on the toolbar, and presto, it appears.

It seems as though for an admin user, the Show: Time & Dates buttons are engaged by default, but when you create a new user, theirs are disabled by default (only Workspaces is enabled by default).

Thanks, so simple a solution to something that's stumped me for a couple of weeks.
