: The missing manual: OpenGoo wiki started
: msauter October 18, 2008, 08:59:19 AM
It's still at a very early stage, but since I can't see any alternative at the moment I'd like to announce that I have established a wiki to write a user's manual for OpenGoo.

At the moment the wiki is running on my own server. If the developers of OpenGoo (I'm not one of them) would like to take it over at a later stage, I'm open for discussion.

I already wrote a couple of pages, and there is a rough structure for the whole manual, but there is still a lot of work to do. I prefer to continue this work on my own for the moment, since I'd like to give this project a better foundation where it can grow on. This includes refining the structure and establishing some editorial guidelines. But I'll be happy to accept contributions at a later stage.

OK, that's all for the moment. If you're interested, please check it out at http://www.liveserver.ch/opengoo_wiki/doku.php and let me know what you think.

That is great Martin! Thank you!

We used to have a Wiki set up but we took it down because its emptiness was embarrasing.  :-[ It was dokuwiki (http://www.dokuwiki.org/)-powered too!

We also contributed to a Spanish manual, but it was part of a paid project and we are still to have a formal permission to publish/open source it from the owners.

We would definitely set the Wiki up again and promise to be loyal contributors, and follow your guidance as long as you choose to keep leading its development. ;)

Wiki looking good already!

I would like to a recommend that a link to this wiki get more prominent placement on the home page.  It is buried quite deep in the forums.

Really great work.  Looks like you beat me to the punch as I had some ideas myself.

I have some additional ideas about presentation and would love to give you a hand this weekend, if you don't mind.  I reorganized our entire internal wiki knowledgebase at work, and am currently an active member of the Ubuntu community Wiki Team.

The wiki will be transferred to the opengoo.org website within a few days.

The manual is online in the OpenGoo server. http://wiki.opengoo.org (http://wiki.opengoo.org) is the URL.
Thank you Martin for your contributions!

Thank you, Martin, for your contribution!

And thank you very much for your blog "Open Mind" where I found the great OpenGoo.

Yes, we have started work on Spanish and French translations.

A procedure for wiki and documentation contributions should be in place soon.
