a child task should automatically be assigned to the same milestone as it's parent task. that is only logical. it should be fixed, otherwise it's not a subtask.

I totally agree with you, the thing is that there are many issues such as the one you mentioned which would require a redesign of the tasks module, and we haven't found the time to do it yet.
Meanwhile, if you create a subtask of another task which is currently assigned to a milestone, it will take the same milestone as a default.

really? i tried that, and it did not appear to happen as you describe.

it happens under certain circumstances, not others.
i believe if i add new task at the milestone screen, the milestone is auto-applied to the new task.
but if i add new task at a task screen, the milestone is not applied.
