To the Core Team behind Feng Office! Great Work guys!  And a BIG THANK YOU!

I'm sure there are many others like me, who are really greatful... but there's just one thing I think is missing! A neat way for users to show their gratitude and to GIVE BACK and contribute to the community!

Joomla have http://extensions.joomla.org/ (http://extensions.joomla.org/)
Wordpress have http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/)
Prestashop have http://addons.prestashop.com/en/ (http://addons.prestashop.com/en/)

Where's the Feng Office http://plugins.fengoffice.com/ (http://plugins.fengoffice.com/) ?

Isn't it about time to take this project to the next level and grow the active community?

End users will benefit from more extensions and modules and twists and features  that suit their specific needs developed by plug-in creators of the community and Core Team will benefit from not getting overloaded by feature requests, but get help from an active community that helps to build these smaller tweaks and features and can focus on building on this Robust and Stable Platform to it's full potential!

Best Regards,
and again, Thank you for your great work on this one!

+1 from here, at the moment its quite hard to look for all the hacks in the forum

because im quite bored at the moment (and it seems that no one else does anything like this atm) i'm going to try to set up a test site for this .. i will post progress to this in a few days here

You think about pointing this subdomain to wiki, don`t you?
There already is a wiki page for "real" plugins, and I suggest to use wiki for collecting contributions too. It would make sense, because unimplemented contributions are continuously changing.

No Pointing a Subdomain to the wiki won't o the trick. maybe for small changes to fo but not for big things.

What is needed is:
--> for developers
First of all, especially if you have serveral modified files, you want something to upload them and manage the revisions of the files --> a scm like subversion or git is needed,
Something to document the mod etc --> a wiki page
a possibility to upload packages  (like here in the forums)
Access controll, you want yourself and other developers be able to change the files but not every user

--> for users
a list of all modifications with ability to see if the mod is active developed and for which version
a possiility to submit the author bugreports or problems without having to search through 5 pages of posts in a forum.

much can be done by improving this forum and the wiki. but it dont seem like anyone does it here.

Yesterday i created a small proposal how i would like to have such a website, so  here it is http://fengforge.org/

ok emails are now working too, any ideas what is also needed ?

im currently working on thinking about how translations could be easily included (i have no idea, would be easier with gettext )

what would be helpful were developers who are interested in beta testing

for questions mail me: kontakt@nicolas-berens.de

updated to redmine 1.1.1 on 2.2.11

+1!  ;)

Great initiative!

2011 goals include a better support (Feng as a platform, API) for plug-in development.

I am confident that, with a bit of time and a lot of work, we will have a really cool and even greater collection of plug-ins.

nice to hear that
a question to the official people of fo; is it ok that I remixed your logo? And do you have any idea to improve this site?

Btw: this weekend I will make this a bit more production ready. (ssl certificate, web server tuning)

EDIT: I just saw that normal users could open up their own projects, this is now fixed. Also i Added a Demo account

Btw²: what really would be helpful, would be a public repository, if you don't have one, create one at my site ;)

We love it when people work to improve Feng Office, or build on top of it.

We have steadily grown and mature as a company and team, but there is a lot to improve yet. All contributions and help are always welcome.

On the use and remixing of the logo: no, it is not ok to use it and change it without permission. As long as we don't feel it is hurting the project image we won't mind much, but -as a rule of thumb- you should always find out the policies prior to using logos.

Keep it up!

I did some Work Today:

-- The Bug that you couldn't create your own project is fixed
-- using external svn repository now works, even though, on slow repositorys its also slow, so its not recommended. (see for example the gelsheet project http://fengforge.org/projects/gelsheet )
-- Avatars via Gravatars are now used
-- a little bit more speed added

Still to do:
-- SSL got the certificate etc but had no time to implement and test this
-- a new logo

BUT:
Everything else now works:
--> FengForge <-- (http://fengforge.org)

as you may have seen, i shut the website down, this was because of three reasons:
1. i was in holidays
2. almost no one showed interest
3. in the last months i moved many of my projects fromm svn to git

==> so, i have a new idea for an ideal development site for fengoffice, this time with git (gitorious as backend) but this needs some time (lets say beginning of march)
: Re: plugins.fengoffice.com/
: editfish March 02, 2011, 12:53:24 PM
Don't get discouraged; you've got a great idea.  Just work on it and slowly developers and users will migrate to it.
: Re: plugins.fengoffice.com/
: nicname March 02, 2011, 01:21:50 PM
i'm not discuraged, i just thought, if nobody uses it a clean start is easier than migrating everything i did to a new platform..

edit: in fact i'm waiting for march 4th, because then, gitorious moves gem-handling to bundler which makes maintaining multiple ruby on rails applications on one server much easier

: editfish March 02, 2011, 01:42:34 PM
That makes sense.

I think Git will be a better option, anyway.  ;)

i haven't written something for a long time, so here a small status report:

after seeing that gitorious is a little bit oversized and lacks some neccesary features im back at redmine:
this time a little bit different,
-complete git integration (http and git with keys)
-svn and others also possible but not as default

domain is the same, BUT ist atm under development, but i will need betatesters so if your interested, create yourself a account and write me an email --> kontakt@nicolas-berens.de

Great idea, but the site is not working?
I'd love to contribute, Feng office is a great piece of software.
