How To's / Workspaces and permissions
« on: January 06, 2011, 03:13:30 pm »
Ok... I've added a client company, added a user to it. I edited their workspaces permissions to "Can manage workspaces"

Now, is there a way, that they CAN manage and create workspaces, BUT only for people of that would be a user of the client company... and NOT all global users?

When you create a note in any workspace... the subscribers to that note. Those emails that are listed under the users. Those are the emails that I would like to have removed from view.

What file then would I need to modify to remove?

Getting Started / How not to show Subscribers emails

Pretty much what the topic states... I would like to NOT show subscribers emails. How can I change that?

Is there a way some only some users can see them? I have some clients that have some connect with my team, but don't wish them to be able to contact them by their email and only through notes and discussions.

It's only your decision how to handle workspaces...
You can arrange it with linking to your customers, your teams/staff, your projects etc. It's very flexible and there is no single solution.

As for me I use workspaces like projects. Within workspace I create milestones, tasks, assign them to my staff... You know, these standard things...

Thanks for your reply, yeah I see that it is flexible, but having never used such software before, I thought I would as so I don't set it up one way... only to find out by trial and error, it may of been better to do it this way.

Any others? don't remember if I said any thing in OP... but will be for a web dev company/site.

this would be VERY nice to have... I would like for some people NOT to be able to deleted items.

I think this should be a MUST for users AND groups.

kinda an older thread, but is this any thing like the "Can manage all contacts" Permissions for users and groups... I have v1.7.3.1

If so, I don't select it for any users OR groups minus Super Admins (what I like to call as I have a 2nd admin account minus the Can manage all contacts function)

I then, if need be, add the contact to the clients company of a 'lead' person that will be a contact for us.

Man... this is REALLY frustrating, can not figure out how to add a simple item like adding a company and that company ONLY see me the admin in there contact list. I can do it... but if I use the Can manage all contacts that company can SEE every COMPANY and user in the whole system!!!! NOT GOOD

For something that seems mature, has terrible documents on elements AND examples to model by.

Ok... after play with it permissions and groups with is what I have found... and what i don't like and hoping to find a cure.

when I give "Can manage all contacts" to the company... or any one in the company OR any one in a Group that may be in the company...They can see ALL that is in the Company.

Now what I don't like of the above scenario, is that can see AND contact ANY one in my company. Don't care for that option.

Would be nice if you could ADD contacts they would be dealing with., so they don't bothers some of my workers with questions.

perhaps I missed something would how can I control and the communication between my company and Clients Company.

Getting Started / Users and Client companies Users
« on: December 22, 2010, 08:53:55 pm »
Ok... playing around with Users and Client companies users. Are client company users able to see 'users' that my be assigned to them?

Ok... I have 2 accounts in my setup... 1st one was the Admin (with admin as username), then I created another account in my name but with Admin rights. I then created a Client company from my 2nd  'personal' account. Then added a user (know as John Doe). How is John Doe to see ANY one? Kinda thought who ever recreated the Client company would be a user in that Client companies workspace.

I can't seem to figure out, after I created a company account, added a user, should they need to contact me.

Would I have to add them as  Contact? Or is it just use 'Notes' for communicate? Would be nice if they had a 'face' or contact, that they knew was there if they had any questions.

Now I can send a note to John Doe, and he can reply, but what would happen if John Doe deleted that note?

Just wondering how a Client Company user would be able to make 'first' contact, if that was to happen.

Maybe I am missing something easy but looking forward to any reply.

Sorry... I should of put this in my OP, but was hoping maybe the Site Admin/Mods could give an example how you guys handle (pic would be GREAT) your workspace directory tree, dealing with website dev and maintenance (as this is what I plan on using FO for)

How do you handle the following dept. (tasks?) Like Content, Design (Graphics), Coding and Site Maintenance (did I forget any thing  :P). I know that might be a tall order, but any info I can gather will only be to help me (and maybe others) and not have to rethink the wheel. As, you guys (the creators) are using a model that is working for you (and is proven).

thanks again.
