Feature requests / Re: view contact activity / history
« on: February 18, 2012, 03:05:59 am »
It would be nice to see all related actions to a contact when viewing the contact itself.
i.e. see all recent emails, see events (meetings) with contact, not only linked objects. (or alternatively automatically link all emails and events to corresponding contact)

AFAIK there is, for the moment, no way at all to see all conversation with one contact, right? (yes, I can search, but then it shows all messages CONTAINING the contacts name/email)

Thanks! S
Hmm... I don't think there's a way to do that, at least not automatically. And I'm not sure for email threads since I don't use it within FO, but I know that with some forethought you can link everything else to a contact, and when you click on the contact, all those links will show up. But it takes some forethought to either link or tag. Maybe have different workspaces/dimensions for the contact?

General Discussion / Re: Quiet in here...

Not railing on the developers.

I think their presence is needed here. That's an opinion from someone that's been around the development of several software products for years now.

As you note, "newbies" aren't really getting much help here, just more questions from other new users. Developer involvement would in turn go a ways to fostering more community involvement, and by extension, adoption.

Again, that's my opinion.

Yeah, I noticed they've not been around at all.

A shame, really. Because I've also noticed that when people have questions or problems with the beta, the user community for the most part just isn't experienced enough to offer a helping hand (and why would they be - it's still BETA).

Betas really need developer involvement. I don't know, but in my opinion it just comes across as arrogant on the developers' part when they're so stand-offish with a beta product - and one that's been at the same beta level for months now.

*rant off*

Installation problems / Moving from one installation to another
« on: February 13, 2012, 04:05:20 am »
I've been using FO2 Beta 3 for a bit now and have it set up the way I want, for the most part.

Now I have to move everything from one hosted provider to another. So I have good backups of both the database and the entire fengoffice directory structure from my root html.

I've been able to install and restore the database to the new location with no problems, but when I go to actually use FengOffice, it displays a page as if there's no data in the database at all and that there are no documents in Apache's directories, as if it were a standard fresh install. I've confirmed that the data is indeed in the database and on the new http server, but I'm not seeing anything displayed in my browser.

Can anybody help with what I may be missing? I'm at a loss.

Thanks.

Feng Office 2 / Re: Feng Office 2.0 beta 3 on Mac Chrome...
« on: February 09, 2012, 03:01:05 am »
In my admittedly limited experience with FO (Beta 3), I've seen this with slower internet connections. Is this installed on a host provider? Usually getting everything in the browser cache (by reloading the page) solves it for me.

As for developers answering any questions, yeah, I find it pretty odd (and discouraging) too that no one is on the forum lately.

You have to enable the option in the Administration Panel, looking for Calendar settings. Once you go to the Calendar view, you may notice a red calendar button on the right, if you click there, you would be able to see a link that you would need to syncronize - one way only though -.
Otherwise, export the Feng events to a file, and upload the file later to Google Calendar.

Best regards,
Francisco
Is this option disabled in Beta 3? Calendar view has no red button anywhere in Beta 3.

General Discussion / Quiet in here...

I've been away from the forum for a long time and just recently came back when I started using FO2B3.

I've noticed it's awfully quiet in here. Back in the OpenGoo days it used to be really active, especially in he beginning. Did most of the developers (and users, for that matter) leave? Or is there another forums somewhere I'm missing?

Getting Started / Re: Quick Question re version
« on: February 02, 2012, 05:43:17 pm »
I would suggest installing 1.7.5 for now. When 2.0 is finished, you should be able to upgrade to it from 1.7.5.
On the other hand, Beta 3 of ver. 2 is quite stable for me. It's able to handle multiple users and many documents fine, and I presume there'll be a simple upgrade when it's final.

How To's / Is this intended behaviour?
« on: February 01, 2012, 05:59:39 pm »
I can't post in the bugs forum, so I'm asking this here.

At the bottom of any of the tabs pages, there is a page count and document count. On the first page, this is what I see. Is that just the maximum number of pages and documents? When I switch to page 2 or beyond, it tells me the real numbers, but the first page always tells me these huge numbers.

This is for Beta 3.

How To's / Re: Uploading largish documents...
« on: January 31, 2012, 10:18:07 pm »
Some further use is suggesting that this is going to be a big problem for me. I can't even upload files into the database that are bigger than 800k. I've got around 600 or so PDFs that are larger than that.

I suppose I could create object links, but that just seems wasteful.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

How To's / Uploading largish documents...
« on: January 31, 2012, 05:28:12 pm »
Hi all.

I'm a long time OpenGoo user and have just installed FengOffice and am liking it a lot.

Forgive me if this question has been asked before, but I can't find any answers from the search results.

I am trying to upload some largish PDF files - around 1-1.5M in size. They don't seem to be uploading. I can upload anything less than a meg and it shows up in the documents tab when complete, but anyting larger than a meg and it just stops. No hanging or anything, it just stops.

On OpenGoo I could upload some really big files - multi-hundred meg files - but am not having any luck with FO.

I should note that with OpenGoo, the type of storage I chose was filesystem and with FengOffice I chose DB storage. I would try to use filesystem, but I get permission errors in trying to create random directories with that option, so I went with DB.

Thanks for any help or information.
