Installation problems / Problems upgrading from 1.6.2 to 1.7.5
« on: November 09, 2011, 09:28:05 pm »
Hi everybody!

I've recently had a problem upgrading a FengOffice installation at version 1.6.2 to version 1.7.5, apparently due to a couple of extra blank spaces in the update file that shouldn't be there! So firstly I want to share this information for anyone that might be having a similar problem.

Check the attached file 'Problem_upgrading_162_to_175.zip' for 3 screenshots:
1) The error I was getting when trying to run the upgrade
2) The culprit file (/public/upgrade/templates/db_migration/1_7_pastafrola.php)! The two extra blank spaces (i.e. ASCII 32, Hex 0x20) are the green rectangles at the end of two lines near the end of the file. Upon deleting those extra spaces the script ran fine!
3) Final result - upgrade successful!

Although the update (apparently) worked, my FengOffice installation appears to be broken. I'm getting error messages when I try to view the list of Notes, Contacts, Documents or Web Links in any Workspace (with 1.6.2 all of the lists would appear without any problem). The messages are of the form "There are no <insert type here> tagged as '[object Object]' in 'JUNITEC'" (JUNITEC is the name of the workspace that was selected at the time). Please see for yourself - file 'My_FengOffice_After_Upgrade_to_175.zip' has screenshots for the various different screens.

Has anyone had this problem before?

Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide! :)

Update: if the event is only assigned to a "sub-workspace" the list of invited people does not appear. But, if we edit the event and add in a "top" workspace (keeping the sub-workspace that is already there), the list appears!

I'm growing more confident that this "bug" has to do with the hierarquical position of the workspace the event is assigned to.

A user tried to add an event in a workspace in which he has no permission to do so.

When he tried to submit the event (after configuring it: selecting subscribers, invited people, etc), he got the "no permissions" dialog box (or at least I think he did: I wasn't there at the time, but his description seems to match). At the same time I (and the other invited/subscribed people) got e-mails saying that a new event had been created.

He tried 4 times, so we all received 4 e-mails (with different, sequential, Unique Ids), but no event appeared since he didn't have permisisons.

Can it be that the e-mails (announcing a new event) are being sent before the user permisisons (to add the event) are checked?

Also, it might be worth checking if the code is behaving like this for other objects (notes, contacts, etc...), this could be a "general" issue, not specific to events.

Update: another user created an event on a workspace and the list of invited people apeared!

The main difference I can see is that this workspace is at a higher "hiearquical" position, like so:

+ All
|_Workspace1  <-------- Invited people list appears
|__Workspace1_1
|__Workspace1_2 <--- Invited people list does not appear
(...)
|__Workspace1_n
|_Workspace2
|__Workspace2_1
|___Workspace2_1_1 <--- does not appear as well (by the way)
(...)

Can it be that it only appears for "top" workspaces and not for "sub" workspaces?

I've had the same problem once or twice, but not very often. Only happens sometimes (usually a logout and a login fixes the issue, in my case).

I thought this was browser related (I had this problem in Google Chrome and Firefox).

Haven't had the problem lately.

In my specific case, yes. They have read & write permissions over the events in that workspace. Plus, they are subscribed to that event.

The "modus operandi" was the following. When creating the event, only user U1 was Subscribed and users U2 to UN were Invited (with "subscribe invited people" option activated).

In the end N+1 users got subscribed (me, U1, and U2 - UN), which is as expected (no problem there).

Same problem here, version 1.6.2 as well.

Invitation e-mails are sent OK, however event information displays "No invitations were sent to this event".

I'm affraid it's not easy to be too specific, it's a sort of incomprehensible bug, but here goes:

1. Create a new contact: 'Person'.
2. From the Contacts tab, click on 'Person' for the contact information page to appear.
3. On that page, on right hand side ("Actions" menu) click "Assign to workspace" and assign 'Person' to the various workspaces he/she belongs to. Submit those changes.
4. Later, try selecting 'Person' again, clicking on "Assign to workspace", and try to remove 'Person' from one or more workspaces. Submit those changes.
5. You get the "Success: Contact 'Person' has been updated successfully". Now go see the workspaces 'Person' is assigned to: they are the same as previously!

Why this happens (i.e. dis-assigning 'Person' from one or more workspaces not working) is something that I haven't understood yet...

One thing I can say: i've tried randomly dis-assigning contacts from workspaces and this seems to be permantently "broken" i.e. I can't dis-assign "any" (well I haven't tried all ~50 of them) contact from the workspaces they are assigned to!!!

Final note: Assigning contacts to workspaces always worked and is still working, only dis-assigning seems to be bugged =/

PS: I'm using version 1.6.2

I'm having exactly the same problem.

Say a contact is assigned to one (or more) workspaces. When I try to edit the workspaces that contact is assigned to, the message says "Success", but no changes are made: the contact is still assigned to the same workspaces.

Sometimes I've worked around this by assigning the contact to a few more workspaces, submiting the changes, then removing everything and submiting  again, but in one particular case it's not working: I keep adding workspaces and can't remove them!
