Installation problems / How to upgrade form 1.6.2 to 1.7.5?

I have to upgrade Feng Office version 1.6.2. Upgrading instructions say that I have to upgrade to 1.7.5 first.

I followed procedure of replacing files but when I finally start upgrade procedure it says there is no path to upgrade from 1.6.2 to 1.7.5.

After some search I found out that upgrade has to download upgrade instructions from http://www.fengoffice.com/versions.xml. It seems that file does not exist on FengOffice site any more and upgrade is unable to continue.

I am stuck here.

How can I handle this and finish upgrade?

How To's / How to insert image into Note?

I need to insert image into note.

All I can find is to upload image as an object and then attach it to the note. But, that does not display image. I need image to be displayed within a note as that is schematics note is talking about.

How To's / What is proper way to downgrade to 1.6.2?

After bad experience upgrading from 1.6.2 to 1.7.2 I want to downgrade to be able to work.

I have backup of the state before I upgraded, but since I upgraded we already used FengOffice before we realized that there is problem. I cannot run from backup as I would loose data.

What I have to do to make 1.6.2 run on top of this?

Feature requests / Handling of email notifications

With not much users on Feng Office we already have hell with too much email notifications.

It is neccessary toprovide means to hanle these notifications.


- there should be an option to check which type of notifications user wants to receive

- there should be an option for user to select notifications by Workspace,  Tag, object type, creator, subscription state etc...

- there should be an option to receive summary of notifications in one email instead of single email for each notification event

- there should be an option to group nortifications by object so if there are several notification for single object, there is just one email

- there should be an option to delay notifications, instead of imediate sending. That would allow notifications to be summarizes in single email. For example, user may set to receive notfications each hoyur, so he would get singe email containing all notifications within that hour.

I am sure, it would be easy to thing of more ways to solve this problem with too much email notifications.

when one has custom transaltion for FengOffice and then makes upgrade, number of new items that are not transalted show up. FengOffice shows error message for such items.

This makes things like a horor as translationis tiem consuming, so updates site is pretty much unusable.

There are two way to handle this:

1 - make FengOffice load english definition for an item, and display it instead of error. It would at least provide some functionality until transaltion is done

2 - make new option in Feng Office's translation tool  to fill in al missing items with original english terms. that would also mean that there is need to be able to filter out items which are filled in but not translated. Now, there is only filter for missing items.

Installation problems / Suddenly, noone can upload file in Documents

SOmething strange happened today. noone can upload files as Documents.
Server configuration was not changed a bit.

When user posts upload Ajax cursos is showsn and that is all, no errors no nothing. After some time, cursor wanishes, uploadin dialog is still there and that is it.

When i check tmp folder, I can find file uploaded. For some reason, uploading process stops there. File is not moved to upload, not database populated.

This is not a problem of PHP upload settings. Nothing in serer configuration changed since yesterday, when it worked. There is alos more than enogh free space for file storage.

Ajax shows nothing, log is empty, and even php does not show any error. It just silently does not work.

How can I check what is the problem?

How To's / How to prevent users form moving objects to trash and archive?

We want to allow users to create objects, comments, and tags, but to prevent them form deleting or archiving data.

It seems this is not possible now? when I give access to soem workspace, that means user has all privileges.

How To's / Are archived objects moved to separate tables?

We noticed that, even if we move some objects to Archive, object count for tags are not changed. It seems like archived objects are just marked as such, and not moved to different table.

Is that the case?

Older versions / Linked Document and Note in different workspaces bug

It is very often that user uploads document in one workspace, but then creates note or task in other workspace, linked to document. If user who reads note does not permission for workspace where document is.

This is usually mistake in entry, but may not be, and it creates lots of confusion, especially, because it is hard to find what causes the problem.

This should be handled somehow.

One way to do it is that FengOffice should not allow linking of documents that are not in the same Workspace.

Other way is, if linked document is not in the same workspace as object it is linked to, it should be set to that workspace too.

Getting Started / How to organize users in teams?

In out company we have several teams. One employee may be member of several teams.

The first approach we used was to create several user groups according to our teams and simply assign users to those groups.

But, it does not work properly as, when one sets subscribers for object, users are displayed grouped by companies, not user groups.

Then, we decided to create several fake companies and assign users to different companies. That allows grouping of users in subscribers list, but we have problem that one user may be in one company only.

How should we deal with this issue?

Option to set subscribers is pretty confusing as it is not sorted properly. It is requred to sort displayed users but also groups of users.

Feature requests / More datailed email notification on object edit

Users are notified when something is changed on objects they are subscribed to, but when one edits object in manner to change workspace, tags, milestone or similar, user gets notification but he cannot see what has been changed.

Notification contains basic info about changed object, but there is no indication what exactly is changed.

Feature requests / More actions on multiple tasks

Tasks list shows check boxes so several tags maybe selected and action applied to all ow them. That is very useful, but there are more actions that should be available:

- asigning selected tasks to Milestone.
- unassigning selected tasks from milestone.
- assigning selected tasks to  user
- unasigning user from selected tasks
- subscripting user to selected tasks
- unsubsrcibing user from selected task
- setting start date and due date for selected tasks

Feature requests / Using several Tags as filter

It would be great if user may select several tags and use them all to create filter for objects with option to match tags with AND/OR clause.
