Installation problems / Error: Failed to establish TLS connection

Hello,
I am evaluating Feng Office (version 1.6.1) and have come across an issue that I am hope someone can help me with.
When I add an email account (IMAP) to Feng Office I receive the error Failed to establish TLS connection. I have both SSL and TLS options set to no in the email account configuration and in admin | configuration | mailing section. I must use IMAP and I have no issue with the account either from a mail client of from my webmail (RoundCube) installations.
I have tried setting TLS and SSL options to yes with the same result. I do have a self signed certificate on the server but I assume Feng Office will not like the errors associated with a self signed cert.
I am using Exim as the mail server.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
