How To's / Print to PDF format for documents
« on: April 23, 2009, 07:09:59 pm »
When I print OG documents to my pdf writer, there is no OG options screen for output.  It unfortunately prints the file path in the header and date+time in the footer, and I would like the option to get rid of these and use my own header & footer items.

Am I missing the print options button, or does it not exist?

Following up on this topic, I'd like to suggest a feature where you need to type in the password to access the administration and account sections again, even if you are logged in.  It won't completely secure a system, but it is one more step that would help.

Doing this is fairly standard on a lot of applications (such as the admin screen on this forum software).

1.4 beta / Gelsheet alpha!
« on: April 23, 2009, 02:43:00 am »
Although I am quite happy to see a spreadsheet app in OG, I am concerned to see such an early, feature-sparse version.

Sourceforge has no documentation, no discussion, no help of any kind.  The project web site has nothing but a screen shot.  I recall reading somewhere that it is a student-driven project.

There are so many missing features (such as simply being able to insert rows and columns) that it may not be ready for use for a very long time. I am wondering if this is being consistently and heavily worked on? Given its state, I wonder how long down the road we may have to wait for a beta or full release product?  Are OG users expected to be Gelsheet testers?

So far it looks great and works well in firefox (and not at all in IE7), so am looking forward to its continued development and more information on the project.

1.4 beta / Cannot add new spreadsheet in IE7
« on: April 23, 2009, 02:32:33 am »
I was surprised to see the ability to add a spreadsheet!  (even if it is alpha, still nice!)

However after a delay, the frame stays blank.

It generates nothing in the error log about it, but in IE7 my browser reports an error, see attachment.

works in Firefox 3.0.9.

1.4 beta / Error upon Add a Custom Report
« on: April 23, 2009, 02:16:06 am »
When I click "Add a Custom Report" in Reporting, Tasks, I get this:

Code: [Select]
Error: could not complete the operation due to error 80020101
It appears I can still continue however with the custom report creation... Oh no I guess not.  When I enter the report title, description and object type (task), it gives me:

Code: [Select]
Error: could not complete the operation due to error 80020101
again.

Log shows this:

Code: [Select]

1.4 beta / Cannot complete any tasks
« on: April 23, 2009, 02:07:29 am »
Tried to complete some tasks, but I always got Error 500, Internal Server Error.

Then I turned on debug logging (which I forgot to do initially *cough*), logged out then back in, tried to close a task again and this happened:

Code: [Select]
Fatal error: Call to undefined method ProjectTask::getClosedBy() in D:\Domains\mydomain.com\wwwroot\opengoo-1.4beta\application\models\notifier\Notifier.class.php on line 47

debug output shows nothing for this error however, the only stuff in here is what happens when I log in:

Code: [Select]
<?php die(); ?>

1.4 beta / Contact record import - country = Canada still not working
« on: April 23, 2009, 01:55:26 am »
As with this 1.3.1 problem, the country is still not working correctly.

However, whereas in 1.3.1 I saw this:

Code: [Select]
<span style="font-weight: bolder; color: red;">Missing lang: country Canada</span>

now in 1.4beta I see this:

Code: [Select]
Missing lang: country Canada
yet when I click Edit Contact, Country is set to "-- None --". Canada does exist in the dropdown though.

1.4 beta / backup still still still fails
« on: April 23, 2009, 01:48:07 am »
Backup has never worked for me, and I've tried the solutions posted here and here. I get the same error message:

Quote
Error while creating database backup: Backup command failed. Check MYSQLDUMP_COMMAND constant.

Nothing in tmp or tmp/backup.

I suppose digging further I'll double check if the binary is actually there, will post when confirmed.

1.4 beta / minor control out of place
« on: April 23, 2009, 01:32:17 am »
In IE 7, same issue as in 1.3.1, screenshot attached.

There are a number of small IE issues like this, can we expect any fixes or will OG be considered a FF-only app?

1.4 beta / billing report not working still
« on: April 23, 2009, 01:19:02 am »
Same as in 1.3.1, if you create a task, then later add a billing category to that user, the Total Task Execution Time report does not calculate the billing info based on the newly assigned rate.  All report billings show as $0.

Feature requests / Public Web Links in all workspaces
« on: April 17, 2009, 03:39:41 am »
I wanted to add a web link and assign it to All workspaces, but was surprised that this is not possible.

If I want Google.com to show up on all workspaces, does it really make sense to have to enter it many times for each workspace?  There are a number of sites that are not secret by any means, and should be available to all.   I can see how Notes, Documents, Tasks, etc are usually going to be workspace-specific, but I can also see how some Notes and some Web Links might be publicly-useful and accessible by all users in all workspaces.

Is allowing me to select the "All" workspace as a feature request difficult?

PS - another option occured to me, if assigning a Web Link or Document to All isn't possible due to the architecture, then how about a Copy button that lets me multi-select any number of other workspaces? Then one could copy a Web Link or Document to all other workspaces.

Suggested uses might include such things as a document that describes the terms of usage or rules of conduct for users of the workspaces, or a few internally company links that are relevant to all users in all workspaces etc.

How To's / How do I create custom reports?

Just wondering if you could point me in the direction to get started on creating my own custom reports?

Older versions / Minor time rounding or display bug
« on: April 17, 2009, 02:41:49 am »
This was a total fluke that I discovered this, because I was actually testing something else.  I created a general timeslot test item and for the hours I put 2.0003.  After I clicked Add, the display showed it as 2.000277777777778.

This isn't something that concerns me with that level of decimal places, however I thought I'd mention it anyway, just in case there is some significance to someone else.

Feature requests / Reporting on Tasks adjustment (SOLVED)
« on: April 17, 2009, 02:32:58 am »
So let's say I'm doing a timed task.   As I work, I'm typing into the Task Data, Description field my notes on what I'm accomplishing and how.  As time goes on, I keep entering some new information about my task progress.

I click the Stop button on the stopwatch function when I'm done, and it asks for an End Task Description.  So I put a brief, "yay I'm done!" in there.

End of the month comes along. Now I want to print out a task report (Reporting, Tasks, Total Task Execution Time).  But instead of including my nice description of my work, it only prints the End Task Description that says, "yay I'm done!".  (not sure what else I would put in this field?)  oh oh.

There is no way to enter all the things I've been working on through the hours in the End Task Description field, because it isn't available while the timer is running.  There is no way to include the Task Data, Description field (which contains all my useful working information) on my report.

A task report should contain a report on the details of the task, should it not?

Does it not make more sense to have the Total Task Execution Time report include the Task Data, Description field there instead of the End Task Description?  Or possibly the choice of either or both of the two.

Something to consider.

Feature requests / Billing revisited
« on: April 17, 2009, 02:10:36 am »
I charge different rates for different work and for different customers.  I discovered that the billing category only allows me to assign one $ amount to one user (me).  Thus I cannot use this for what I intended, but this is not a big deal, I can do much of this in my invoicing application.

However, I decided to mention it purely to offer some constructive feedback in case others have this concern.  I did a search and found this nicely detailed post about a similar situation.

Although I think what the other poster is saying is more complexity than I would need, I think that it bears some thinking in terms of the usefulness of billing.  I assume the goal of setting a billing category to a user is from the point of view that employees generally bill out at one particular rate.

But wouldn't it make the system far more flexible, if instead you could assign a user to a billing rate, rather than the other way around?  Then both scenarios could be accomplished.  Food for thought.
