How To's / Wording: Owner Company instead of Company?
« on: October 29, 2008, 03:02:08 pm »
In the admin panel there is a section called "Company", and another that is called "Clients". Both are companies, but THE Company is the owner company of an open goo installation. Wouldn't it be nicer to call it "Owner" then?

Or: "Owner company" vs. "Client companies"?

And why not put them side by side?

1. Owner company
2. Client companies
3. Users
4. User groups

Much more logical...

Feng Office 1 / Missing text in preferences

In the user preferences in the task options you get several errors saying:

<span style="font-weight: bolder; color: red;">Missing lang: user ws config option name tasksShowWorkspaces</span>

Feng Office 1 / Preferences vs. Configuration
« on: October 29, 2008, 03:38:06 am »
If you choose "Edit preferences" in your user account you get a screen with the title "Configuration". We should consequently use one of these two terms only. My vote goes for "Preferences", since "Configuration" is what you have on a global level in the admin panel.

Feng Office 1 / Re: DB corrupted?
« on: October 28, 2008, 06:28:44 pm »
Thanks, but it didn't solve the problem:

After logging in I can only see the "All" workspace. I can reassign myself (= administrator) to the existing workspaces, but
a) the hierarchy has gone (and a can't assign a parent workspace anymore)
b) after logging out and logging in again, all workspaces have gone again.

Looks bad, doesn't it?

Maybe we can use extracts from http://www.liveserver.ch/opengoo_wiki/ for building the online help?

I had the same problem (OpenGoo 0.9.1, for a description see http://forums.opengoo.org/index.php?topic=272.msg1050#msg1050)

The hack mentioned above let's you log into your OpenGoo installation again and retrieve your data, but the workspaces don't show up in the left sidebar as they sould... :-(

Feng Office 1 / Blank screen after changing workspace permissions
« on: October 21, 2008, 01:09:10 am »
I have two admin accounts on my OpenGoo installation: one is mine, one is a test account. I recently logged in with the test account, changed some workspace permissions in the admin panel, logged out and tried to log in again with my own account - but all I got was a blank screen.

After turning on the debugging mode I got:

Error params:
File:    /home/opengootest/public_html/opengoo/environment/library/database/adapters/AbstractDBAdapter.class.php
Line:    371
Sql:    SELECT * FROM `og_project_charts` WHERE (project_id in () AND show_in_parents = 1) ORDER BY updated_on DESC LIMIT 0, 5
Error number:    1064
Error message:    You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ') AND show_in_parents = 1) ORDER BY updated_on DESC LIMIT 0, 5' at line 1

Please help!

How To's / Settings for file type and size?
« on: October 21, 2008, 12:08:16 am »
When I upload a new file into "Documents" there is a message:

"You can upload files of any type. Max filesize you are allowed to upload is 32MB"

Is there a possibility to change these settings as an admin?

Feature requests / Re: Switch user
« on: October 20, 2008, 11:32:20 pm »
Two more thoughts:

1. The "switch user" feature can also be a tool to protect privacy, because it allows the admin to make sure that a certain user has only the rights he/she should have.

2. If we really care about privacy then we have to encrypt the whole database and all files (because they are accessible at least for the person who installs OpenGoo).

Wait! We all agree that there is room for improvement regarding the permissions. And now you are thinking about making it even more complex by giving the standard users the opportunitiy to lock the admins out?

It's absolutely common in any system that there is a super user who has access to the whole system. And I think it's for good reasons.

Hi Conrado

As an administrator I can see any information in any workspace anyway, and I can control the permissions of any user. In other words: There is no privacy for standard users anyway, so it does not make any difference if I can log into a useres account.

Announcements / The missing manual: OpenGoo wiki started
« on: October 18, 2008, 08:59:19 am »
It's still at a very early stage, but since I can't see any alternative at the moment I'd like to announce that I have established a wiki to write a user's manual for OpenGoo.

At the moment the wiki is running on my own server. If the developers of OpenGoo (I'm not one of them) would like to take it over at a later stage, I'm open for discussion.

I already wrote a couple of pages, and there is a rough structure for the whole manual, but there is still a lot of work to do. I prefer to continue this work on my own for the moment, since I'd like to give this project a better foundation where it can grow on. This includes refining the structure and establishing some editorial guidelines. But I'll be happy to accept contributions at a later stage.

OK, that's all for the moment. If you're interested, please check it out at http://www.liveserver.ch/opengoo_wiki/doku.php and let me know what you think.

Feature requests / Switch user
« on: October 18, 2008, 02:43:38 am »
Setting permissions for users, companies, workspaces etc. is quite complex in OpenGoo, and if something goes wrong here this can have heavy consequences.

Therefore I'd like to have a "Switch user" feature which is available for administrators only and which allows you to see your OpenGoo installation from the perspective of another user without the necessity to log in with this users credentials (which you may not have anyway since users can change their passwords).

I imagine a dropdown in the upper right corner (where your own user name is displayed) which allows you to select any other user immediately. This would help very much to check if a user is able to see what he/she should, but doesn't see what he/she shouldn't.

I know this option from TYPO3, which is very helpful if you get these phone calls or e-mails saying "I can't find XY...".

How To's / Tag sorting
« on: October 17, 2008, 05:17:44 pm »
Tags don't seem to be sorted in a specific order. Is there a possibility to sort them alphabetically? Can we make this by default?
