I agree with you that two clicks away is too much ... A better solution would be to load file description via AJAX and allow editing when the task is being edited. Don't you think?

It is not a trivial task:
It requires several changes in the core and in the interface.

Doing it properly would take some real time.

It works on all standard Linux installs I tried.
However, in 1.7.1 we upgraded the Swift library, which we use to send via SMTP, as it caused some strange issues for some SMTP servers (MTA problem).

In a given workspace you should only be able to see the milestones stored in the current workspace and its subworkspaces.
