Older versions / Internet Explorer 8 JavaScript error
« on: May 24, 2010, 04:04:14 pm »
I receive the following type of errors in IE8:

Webpage error details

Message: 'this.getOwnerTree()' is null or not an object
Line: 102
Char: 2338
Code: 0
URI: http://test.commerce.wi.gov/php/fengoffice/public/assets/javascript/extjs/ext-all.js

Is this a bug with the JavaScript code or an IE 8 issue.

Development / LDAP 1.7 RC
« on: May 11, 2010, 02:04:55 pm »
After looking at some threads on LDAP, I configured using the example LDAP config file. When I try to login using an admin account created before LDAP I could not login and the log.php file is empty. I changed the LDAP bind credentials, restart the server and when I login using admin I get credential errors. So I assume that this tells me the first attempt I made worked and it connected. I go back to the original config, restart the server and try to connect with admin and again nothing in the log.php file. I try to login with a know LDAP user and I get the red box with the message failed to log you in.

Has anyone successfully got LDAP to work with 1.7RC? I'm using LDAP to go at an Active Directory server. I have successfully did this in Alfresco and was able to import AD user attributes into Alfresco authentication. I'm using the same credential information for both Alfresco and FengOffice. LDAP integration will be key for any potential integration of FengOffice into my employers workflow.

Feature requests / Re: GTD-esque features!

What woudl it take to associate a task to more than one workspace as can be done with documents.

What I'm thinking is that I say have a project workspace and my Do It, Delegate It and Defer IT workspaces. I process all my tasks for a project and than also want to associate each tasks into my of my actionable workspaces. Than during the course of my day I will start in my Do It workspace and take action on all Do It tasks for each project. I than move to my Defer It worskpace and possibly move some items into my Do It workspace. I can than go to my project workspace and see my tasks for the specific project.

Does that make sense or am I way off base?

Feature requests / Additional admnistrative or owner permissions
« on: April 16, 2010, 04:02:26 pm »
In the past I have advocated for another administrative or owner. level for clients or workspaces.

Any thoughts on changes to the permissions levels in FengOffice. Of all the "weaknesses" in FengOffice compared to other systems, the permissions levels are the ones I see most glaring. I would see the an additional administrative or owner level permissions a more important need than new features.

In looking at the folders thread, I see someone mentioned SharePoint. In essense SharePoint and other document management systems use a folder paradigm to manage what is in the database or in the file system. As a SharePoint user and as someone who has tested other systems, I know this is a nice feature. But folders are not the only way to go.

In my asking about the ability to select modules for a workspace you would use a different paradigm in FengOffice. You would use the workspace with documents module as the folder replacement. It probably would be preferred if you could create a template document workspace to be used when creating the new document workspace.

Older versions / Internet Explorer 8 problems
« on: April 13, 2010, 05:44:06 pm »
When using FengOffice in Internet Explorer 8 I get the following web page error details

Message: Object doesn't support this property or method
Line: 70
Char: 1753
Code: 0
URI: http://test.commerce.wi.gov/php/fengoffice/public/assets/javascript/extjs/ext-all.js

I checked the ExtJS web site and there appears to be problems with extjs and Internet Explorer.

I ran ext-all.js though http://jslint.com/ and found a lot of errors, but not the error that is proving to be the issue in Internet Explorer 8. Anyone else having problems in IE 8?

Anyone with any ideas. This bug is a killer in getting FengOffice accepted in my organization. I will continue to see if I can get this fixed.

As I said, I keep trying other systems (recently tried OpenAtrium) but always find myself coming back to FengOffice. Keep up the great work. There is no perfect system out there. I find that FengOffice simply works well for my needs and I imagine the needs of a great number of users.

I think there is a argument for both. Some may want module activation being client based and some workspace based. I think that workspace based might be easier to implement in the current code base, but I could be wrong.

I look at workspace configuration of modules as a way to allow workspaces to have specific purposes. I will try to explain this from another environment I come from, that being Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.

To me one of nice features of SharePoint is that a site (I will use the term site for what in SharePoint is called a site/workspace) is a container for child objects. I can create a main parent site, and can use child sites as specific containers. For example I could have one child site that contains only document libraries, one child site that contains wikis, one that contains task lists, etc. or I can have the one parent site that contains document libraries with document folders within the libraries, task lists, wikis, etc. Point is I have some flexibility in SharePoint in how I want to structure the child objects within the parent container.

If I could manage the modules available to a workspace, I could have even more powerful parent container - child object options than available in something like WSS 3.0.

I could also see a possibility of doing module activation by permissions, but I think module activation by workspace might be easier to implement in the current system.

I've been a big fan of OpenGoo/Fengoffice for almost two years. I've tried many other systems, mentioned in this thread like PHProjekt, NexPro, eGroupware, etc. but I always find myself coming back to FengOffice. Yes FengOffice could use improvement and some new features, but for me it's ease of use and nice interface put it above other systems. Plus FengOffice has features other don't. For example, the ability to associate a document with more than one workspace, which I haven't found in other systems.

For me, the number one thing I would like to see is to allow module configuration per workspace. What I would envision is when you create a new workspace, inherit module access from the parent workspace, but have the ability to remove modules as needed. So for example, I have a parent workspace with a set of modules, I create a child workspace that I want to act like a document folder or library. I create that child workspace and only select the file documents module. Under that I can create child document workspaces that by default only have the documents module enabled. This allows me to create a separate document management structure for the parent workspace. As needed, I could create separate calendar workspaces, notes workspaces etc, or I could enable document workspaces to also include notes modules. In my opinion this would give FengOffice unparalleled flexibility compare to other systems I've tested.

Found the error. The instructiosn say to add the following to public/assets/javascript/og

      // AEL - Begin mod to add lab panel to Feng Office
      og.panels.lab = new og.ContentPanel({
         title: lang('labs'),
         id: 'labs-panel',
         iconCls: 'ico-labs',
         refreshOnWorkspaceChange: false,
         defaultContent: {
            type: 'html',
            data: '<iframe style="width:100%;height:100%;border:0" src="http://fengoffice.siigroup.com/application/views/lab/index.php"></iframe>'
         }
      }),
      // AEL - End mod to add lab panel to Feng Office

Notice that this brings in the index.php file from http://fengoffice.siigroup.com which not what we want. Change the src to point to the index.php file applicable to your configuration. After doing that everything worked.

Spoke too soon, not working. I can see the form to select the work spaces and users for the GANTT chart, but I can't actually produce the GANTT chart, when I submit I simply return to the same page.

Also, is it design so that an user can see all other users, or is there suppose to be some kind of security where an user should only see there work, or an admin could see everybody?.

I got the SQL correct. But now when I go  to create a GANTT chart, I'm not getting my data, the chart is connecting to

fengoffice.siigroup.com

I made the data base changes in index.php. Is there anywhere else it is connectting to fengoffice.siigroup.com instead of my database?

Bummer, I can;t get any of the

DROP PROCEDURE IF EXISTS opengoo.get_my_workspaces;
CREATE PROCEDURE opengoo.`get_my_workspaces`();

statements to work regardless of how I setup the delimiter, I keep getting the

error. I see how people have gotten this to work, I simply cannot get it to work.
