How To's / Assigning tags to workspaces
« on: February 09, 2010, 03:15:44 am »
Hi

I am wrapping my head around using FO for CRM (and project management, and support and...)

For the CRM element, I am considering a workspace per sales opportunity.  That way, I can collate all emails, notes, comments, documents etc relating to the sale.

I need a way to identify the sales stage for each workspace - ideally in a way that gives me an overview of all open sales at each stage - lead, proposal, close, won/lost.

I can tag each email, note, document etc, but ideally I would like to be able to tag the whole workspace.  This does not appear to be possible.

Any comments on my approach, or suggestions?

Thanks
Brendon

Feature requests / Integrate CSV export class
« on: February 08, 2010, 04:13:58 am »
There are numerous requests to extend CSV export to objects other than contacts.

The following php class provides a very simple framework for triggering a CSV download based on the database connection string and an SQL statement.

Once the class is integrated, the community could provide code snippets to generate useful PDFs.

A note: I am already using the class as a standalone script - just added a folder and accessed it directly.  I lack the skills to integrate it further.

Comments?

How To's / Re: How to handle junk / spam emails
« on: February 07, 2010, 07:01:39 pm »
Hi

Go to Junk folder
Click on the subject of the email
In the Actions panel, click on More
Then click on Not spam

The message returns to the inbox.

However, I have no idea if this affects future spam classifications.

Getting Started / Re: Storing and reporting custom data
« on: February 07, 2010, 03:38:21 am »
Hi

Thanks for responding.

At the moment my company data is in several separate systems, with their own databases.  Maintaining these is a nightmare.

Feng holds the promise of a single centralised system (at least for my needs).

It looks like there are only two issues that need resolving:

1. Improved access to custom properties - there are lots of posts about this
2. Universally available CSV export options as part of the report framework

Resolution of these issues would be beneficial for most users under a wide range of applications of Feng.

Getting Started / Storing and reporting custom data
« on: February 04, 2010, 01:19:50 pm »
Hi

I run a web hosting service.
We use a monthly spreadsheet to store debit order details for the client payment run.
I am trying to centralise all processes in Feng.
So, I need a way to store structured data - bank, account, amount etc per project (not per client, as a client may have several projects).
I then need a CSV export of all bank details.
I don't want to use a spreadsheet, as this makes one data source for all clients - I would prefer the data to be broken up per project and then brought together using a report.
I am also keen to be able to use comments/some for of auditing to show when the debit order record for a project was last updated.

Any ideas?

--edit--
I could of course hold unstructured content in a Note - bank, account, amount but that feels a little messy

Thanks

Ideas / Re: create an object from another object type
« on: May 09, 2009, 04:00:02 pm »
Hi

Sorry for this delayed response - I didn't notice that people had responded.

Thinking about it again, what would be REALLY great is some kind of hook system, rather than hard coded integrations between object types.

So, instead of coding an email -> task code snippet, make a plugin architecture that allows any object -> object mapping.  For example, a file format that defines the interactions through an XML file, etc.

Not being a programmer, that's as far as I can take it :-)

Ideas / Re: Mindmap / FreeMind
« on: March 28, 2009, 08:22:47 pm »
Hi

I support the call for mindmap integration.

However, one of the things that draws me to OpenGoo is the fact that I can host the whole system, without requiring my data to be in the cloud.

We should therefore focus on web-based mind mapping applications that can be fully integrated without the need for external data hosting.

Any likely candidates?

Ideas / create an object from another object type
« on: March 28, 2009, 07:56:45 pm »
Hi

I'd like to see smart matching of data when generating new objects.
This would greatly speed up data entry.

For example:

I receive an email from a client requesting some action.
I press a button titled "Generate Task"
The task entry screen appears, and is pre populated with:

Task title = email subject
Subscriber - includes email address of sender
If the sender is a contact, and the contact is linked to only one workspace, then select that workspace
Task description = body of email
Start date = date when email was received
Etc.

Each field would still be editable, so that I can change the content if I wish.

I can see similar functionality for email -> event, email -> document etc.

What do other users think?

Brendon
