Takes 14sec. to save a task, only my personal problem?
« on: March 20, 2009, 07:24:09 am »
Hi,

if I edit a task and want to save it it takes about 14 seconds until its saved.

Is this only my problem or does it Opengoo take realy so long to save?

I think that when you save a task, if you chose to notify by e-mail, a mail is sent on the same function call as the save function.

It might be the case that you are notifying by e-mail, and that your call to the 'e-mail send' function is running slow.

Also, in any case, the 'e-mail send' should be performed after responding the html 'POST'. We'll investigate this.

Conrado's right, emails should be sent by a background service to allow refreshing the pages faster..

Wee have added this to the list of features to work on.

Thanks for your fast answers.

My problem is not in saving a new task,
I get this delay only if I edit a task and then save it.

Mails could be sent even if you are editing a task, if there are any subscribers to the task for example, delaying the save time.

Try creating a new task, then editing it and saving it, does it still take 14 seconds? Also, are you editing the task from the tasks panel or from the edit task view (accessible when you click "All options..." when editing from the tasks panel)?

I have the same problem, the function for sending mail is very slow and this affects me much because I have to constantly edit tasks.
Unable to use OG in this case.
Any solution?

Upgrade:

I found the solution:change the settings in administration/cron , add a cronjob to send the mails notifications by this way. The server receive the mails and send in the background.
