Wat een mooi land je hebt, Nederlanders! :D

Dutchmen:
Dank je wel, jij hebt snel Nederlands geleerd.

But what did  the government tell you?

The Dutch government will is trying to be full open source for 2010. That's why they will use the odf format (I believe) and they will use open source programs so maybe the Dutch government is considering FengOffice/opengoo.

conrado:
Nah... That was a machined-assisted translation.  ;)

I participated in the ODF workshop co-organized by the Dutch government programme Netherlands in Open Connection and OpenDoc Society under auspices of the Netherlands Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Interior and Kingdom Relations.

In there, most notable ODF implementators and interested companies and projects discussed interoperability issues, how to fix them, and plans on improving future interoperability.

I think it was both very kind and a very smart thing to do by these organizations. The Dutch government is an example of not only thinking about the future of their information and communication technology, but of taking steps to facilitate it.

Of course the government will benefit from a more competitive industry, and better interoperability. But, ultimately, every person wishing to share information in electronic form will benefit from these kind of events (this would be the vast majority of the world's population). Hopefully this is the first of many.
