If you're on a Contact's page and click on their email address, or even if you click on an email address in an email it should compose an email.
Specifically, each user should have a preference to use an external email client (ie. a mailto) or the OpenGoo email module.
I am using OpenGoo for email but clicking on an email opens up my email client on my local machine.
