what about project templates?

Hi,

Is it possible to create tempplates for projects (somewhat like a form you can make in excel) if you are going to need them more often, its really hard to find a program with that.

And if you cant, how do you handle that problem?, it is really timeconsuming to create new templates every time.

I had a look at templates, but I don't really understand them.

I have projects with a standard set of milestones and tasks.

Ideally I want to be able to make a template workspace holding the milestones, tasks, documents etc and then replicate this for each new project.

Is this possible?

Yes. It is not the simplest part of the system. Play with them templates for a few minutes and I'm sure you'll understand the dynamics.

Okay, so maybe I'm being dumb and overlooking something: but for a task I can add a parametrised date as start/end date, but when I add a milestone to the project it just allows me to copy one from the existing workspaces, and doesn 't allow me to set its date?

On an additional question: can I, with a template, set a event on the calendar on a certain day? Or just add tasks and milestones?

Hi, For the moment templates only handle tasks and milestones.

Milestones allow editing the date since version 1.7-beta, it wasn't available before.

I noticed it is possible by manually editing the fields in the mysql db to include ProjectMilestone and due_date; so it works for now and even better when 1.7 comes out

Hey Amy,
Make sure that your "source" workspace is accessible to all that want to deploy your template.  I found that when I created a template in my personal workspace that coworkers were experiencing the same problem you are.
