Interested in joining an established localisation platform?
« on: December 10, 2008, 12:21:31 pm »
Dear development community. I took a quick look at your project and think it is quite neat (understatement) with a lot of potential. One of the things I notice is that support for other languages may not yet be too clear.

I would like to offer to explore possibilities to join http://translatewiki.net aka Betawiki, a MediaWiki based localisation platform for FOSS. We have a little under a thousand translators in over 100 languages (some of course more active than others), and currently support MediaWiki, over 250 MediaWiki extensions, Mantis Bug Tracker, FreeCol and a few smaller applications.

Ideally I would like to get in contact with a core developer with an interest in i18n/L10n to perform a smallish feasibility study. I can be found in #mediawiki-i18n on the Freenode IRC network (or just go to http://translatewiki.net/wiki/Special:Mibbit for a quick connect). Alternatively speak to a user called Nikerabbit.

Cheers! http://translatewiki.net/wiki/User:Siebrand
